HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed lower Friday with the weighted index down 48.51 points, or 0.61 percent, to close at 7,682.27, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse fluctuated between 7,941.63 and 7,848.78 during the day's trading. Turnover totaled 147.625 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 5.01 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.
